Now support the chassis so both wheels can be rotated. Lift the machine up onto its left side so you can dribble some rust disolver between inner and outer axles on right side. You can now see the C clip on the end of the right axle, so remove it since your wheels are likely also seized with rust to the outer axles. The clip has a long side that you pull outward to clear the axle center area and then slide off to the side. The wheels are retained by a clip on both sides that fits into the groove on both axles. It is not strong so needs to be removed before any work on axles or wheels removal. The right side outer axle is retained by the C clip that can be seen in pics 2 and 3. Both long and short axles are fitted into the differential. When you put the inner axle back into the differential be careful to keep the washer (between frame and differential) raised so axle will go through it and engage with the flutes.Ĭlick to expand.The axle is composed of two parts, a long shaft on the left side that spans the chassis with a large diameter on left and a small diameter on the right to fit into the outer right axle. I grease the wheel and outer axle every year and also the inner axle. The inner axle may be rusted to the outer axle which would effectively cause the differential not to work, it becomes a solid axle. Removing the wheel makes it easier to see and remove the circlip. When you take off the clip on right wheel you will see a circlip which retains the inner axle. Your problem may be a rusted inner axle on the right side. Apparently this improved the Autoturn performance, but it was not a recall or a change that could be made to earlier models. So Ariens re-configured the chassis on many models to have the wheel axle moved forward to be closer to bucket and take weight off the bucket.

No problems were reported on the Pro models. Some owners complained about the Autoturn not keeping a straight line. Really appreciate your help and suggestions with this, *Can it even be repaired to how it worked/turned when I bought it ?

If i complain enough, will the Dealership "remember" that yes, there was a free recall and repair for it / or.Īm I simply out of luck with this thing now ? So, do I have any recourse seeing it was bought in 2015 ? "corrected" it by re-locating the axle on the newer machines being sold. I read here that many, many others have had the same problem, and that Ariens It's as if the Differential built in (I imagine) to allow this easy turning feature is frozen. Now\Last winter it was just about impossible to turn. Has that easy turning feature, which has always worked very well until last winter.

Have an Ariens Platinum Series Sno Thro purchased in Sept. Hard to even think about Snowblowers now, but I imagine this is probably the best time of the year
